June 7, 2008 (Saturday) - LVD annual business meeting, potluck and pool party at the home of Pam & Craig Kaster in Zachary (call for directions). Time: 6:00pm  Bring an entree or salad - dessert is optional. Drinks and tableware will be provided. Those who would like to swim should bring their own towels. A changing area will be made available.
June 14, 2008 (Saturday) - The Day the War Stopped - Location: St. Francisville, LA - Times: Parade at 10:30am, D-Band (in Grace Episcopal Church's Jackson Hall) at 11:30am, LVD performance (also in Jackson Hall) at 12:30pm and play and burial reenactment at 1:30pm. Lunch is usually provided at noon for participants in period attire. For further information, click here.
FYI: PBS (?) will be filming a documentary on The Day the War Stopped on the evening of Friday June 13th and during the event on Saturday the 14th. They are asking for civilians in period attire to be part of the background scenes. If you can make it on Friday, please be at the St. Francisville Grace Episcopal Church at 5pm. For Saturday's filming, please be at the church throughout the day's events, including the dancing session. Attire: 1860's daywear - ladies, please make sure your hair is dressed appropriately.
June 20, 2008 (Friday) - Big Old Time Square Dance - Location: Cypress City Antique Store, Hwy 93, Arnaudville, LA - Time: 8:00pm-1100pm - "Live" old-time music / Dances called by Steve Bing. All dances will be walked-through, no experience is required and all (including families) are welcome. Dances include hoedown squares, circles, contras and mixers. Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase. Come out and enjoy this Summer Solstice Square Dance party!
